OUT MAY 11TH
The award-winning Dublin-born singer-songwriter releases a brand new single, “Take
My Place”, which features a simply breath-taking vocal performance, reminiscent of
Alicia Keys or Lauren Hill, proving that RuthAnne is one of the best singers out there.
Speaking of the new track, RuthAnne says: “‘Take My Place’ is probably the realest
and most vulnerable lyric I’ve ever written. It was written at the time when I was
stalking my ex’s Instagram, a few months after we broke up, and I discovered that he
was seeing a model. So, I wrote “Take My Place” about all the questions that we ask
ourselves when we see those pictures.’”
RuthAnne has achieved the ASCAP Songwriters “Best Pop Song” Award for Jojo’s
“Too Little Too Late.” In May 2018, she received two BMI awards for penning “Slow
Hands” for Niall Horan and “In The Name Of Love” for Martin Garrix. She’s working
with John Legend and also written a string of hits including Britney Spears’ RIAA
platinum-certified “Work Bitch as well as featuring on the ‘Fifty Shades Darker’
soundtrack with her song “Pray”.
In the last month she has supported Third Story and X Ambassadors on tour, plus
joined Niall Horan to sing on his “Flicker World Tour”. RuthAnne will be performing at
The Great Escape Festival as well as playing her first headline shows in London and
Dublin, this month.
“She takes a great deal of inspiration from female soul artists like Alicia Keys and Lauryn
Hill, but also subtly incorporates signature Celtic elements — including hymn-like
harmonies — that pay homage to her homeland.” – BILLBOARD MAGAZINE
