Sunday 10th January RTÉ One 6.30pm
Contestants this week are from Wexford, Dublin, Mullingar, Carlow, Cork, Donegal, Brazil and Tipperary
It’s week two of the Blind Auditions and 12 more contestants will perform for the coaches hoping for a spot in the Battle Round. The competition is well and truly on for episode two as the coaches are fighting against each other to get the best talent, sometimes even double and triple pitching to get the best talent on their respective teams!
Following Bressie’s dismal performance last week, not winning one single pitch he starts this week determined to find a winner for his team.
Recently engaged Mags White from Cobh (34) has dreamed of being a professional singer all her life but now, she is a pastry chef singing with her fiancé’s band at weekends. To get her ready for the performance, she even made an edible microphone to impress the judges singing Standing in the Way of Control.
No stranger to the camera, Kristyna Hayes (25) from North Wall Dublin, who appeared on the TV show ‘The Unemployables’ applied for the Voice of Ireland before but was never successful enough to get through to the blind auditions. She’s now driven and ready for the road to success and with an added 2 stone weight loss can her performance of Dancing in the Dark wow the coaches enough for them to hit the big red button?
Pauric O’Meara (21) from Borrisokane in Co. Tipperary entertains the masses in the foyer with his drumming but he’s going to do his own version of Irish disco chart hit Maniac 2000. He’s brought plenty of support from home but will he gain the support of the coaches.
Mother of two Miranda Trouabal from Coolock Dublin (29) says that the Voice of Ireland is one of those things she should’ve done but never got round to as she was a very young mother, spending years singing into her hairbrush or baby’s bottle. Singing My Baby Just Cares For Me by Nina Simone she takes to a stage for the first time in her life to try and impress the coaches.
Emmie Reek (27) drag queen from Brazil came to Ireland to study English but met his fiancé and has since decided to stay. The problem now is that the Battles are planned for the same date as Emmie’s wedding day. If she does wow the coaches with her rendition of Adele’s One and Only, what will she decide to do?
Megan Quinn (20) from County Donegal made the trip down from Killybegs in hope of being the coaches’ next big catch! As a big Westlife fan, she’s hoping Kian will turn his chair for her but will her version of Faces Ooh La La grab his attention?
Another Donegal lass, Nerissa Moore (23) splits her time between modelling and working in a jewellery shop. Modelling has helped her gain confidence for her on stage performance of MGMT’s Electric Feel and she’s hoping Una will turn her chair for her.
Emma Houlihan (20) from Middleton in Cork is a big fan of country music and is singing Rachel Patten’s Fight Song – it has been her ambition to audition for the Voice of Ireland for years.
Busker Luke Ray Lacey (19) Carlow and 2FM wildcard has already won over Jenny Greene & Keith Walsh to make it through to the blind auditions. Luke hasn’t had an easy up-bringing as both his parents were addicts, with his mother recovering and coming back around to support him he’s brought a big fan club with him but will Luke Ray’s rendition of Ed Sheeran’s I See Fire gain the support of the coaches?
Student Caoimhe McCarthy (23) from Mullingar has always been a big fan of music and is using the Voice of Ireland to get music back in to the forefront of her life. She’s singing Flashlight by Jessie J to try and impress the coaches. Will her neighbour Bressie hear the local accent in her vocals?
Fiona Garvey (19) from Skerries, Co. Dublin was born in Chicago but was brought up in Ireland since the age of three. Her Mum is praying that Bressie will turn around but will her performance of Pink’s Try grab his attention?
When Andrew Berry (19) Wexford received a phone call to attend the blind auditions of the Voice of Ireland he was baffled as he didn’t actually apply himself – his father did without telling him! With the backing of his family and many people saying he has a unique voice he performs Dancing in the Dark from Robyn.
